TILLINGTON SINGLE VINEYARD

Pale gold in colour with very fine bubbles. Intense aromas of raspberry, red apple skin and rose petal. The textured palate is both vibrant yet refined, revealing layers of orange zest, raspberry, apricot and marzipan. Opulent fruit and complex biscuit characters persist in a long, mouth watering finish.

Budburst occurred in mid-April, close to long-term averages. An advection frost on 28th April caused significant bud damage across all sites, which resulted in delayed vine development and a late flowering. Fortunately, once flowering was completed, a long, warm summer ensued which enabled the grapes to develop nicely. Some excellent quality was found despite overall low yields in 2016. Harvest began later than average, on 12th October, and finished on 24th October.

A warm start to the year saw a slightly earlier budburst than average. Fine and warm weather continued through to July, with good and timely flowering and fruitset. A cooler August followed, slightly delaying veraison, but a warm September led to gradual ripening of all three varieties before harvest began in the first week of October. Overall, the warm, fine conditions of the growing season led to an excellent quality harvest with ripe fruit flavours and beautifully balanced acidity.

As the fine bubbles rise to the top of this pale gold wine, aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries emerge, and are reminiscent of British summer fruits. On the palate this delicate fruit is accompanied by complex flavours of toasted almonds, pastry and praline. The wine balances elegance and richness in perfect harmony, with a refreshing acidity and a textured, decadent finish.

The wine is pale gold in colour, with gentle, fine bubbles that fill the nose with aromas of redcurrant, wild raspberry and toast. On the palate, the wine shows great elegance and complexity, balancing rich notes of almond and brioche with a fine minerality and a long, persistent finish.

Light gold and hints of silver colour with tiny bubbles on the eye. The nose begins with the toasted topping of crème brulee and meringue before the wine continues with time in the glass to open and build in intensity. Flavours of strawberry and cherry emerge. A great example of both power and freshness on the palate.
