In the South of England, where soils and climate combine to create the perfect conditions for age-worthy sparkling wine that rivals the best in the world, lies the Nyetimber estate. Exceptional vineyards flourish with immaculate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grapes. And from only the best years, the finest parcels are blended together to make 1086: a wine that truly reflects its unique terroir, with unmatched complexity, elegance, and poise.
Our winemaking team knows every vine, from which catch the first rays during sunrise in the morning to where the dew falls at night. Cherie and Brad’s approach has always been to showcase the characteristics of the vineyards in their wines. By carefully studying each parcel from our greensand and chalk soil vineyards, regularly walking the vine rows and tasting grapes, a clear picture was emerging that even within a great vineyard, from one year to the following, if one looks closely enough, specific parcels would provide truly outstanding grapes, according to the conditions of the season.
The pinnacle of our winemaking, 1086 is characterised by its exceptional balance: acidity, texture and length combine seamlessly. Its elegant golden hue, fine mousse, fresh grapefruit, nougat, and subtle minerality give way to a delicate palate with a touch of vanilla and a long, lingering finish.
Select parcels of immaculate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes were handpicked from the most exceptional of our plots in the rural South of England during the harvest of 2010; a year where beautifully temperate and dry growing conditions gave us a slow, gradual ripening season. Vines flourished from budburst in spring through to early autumn, resulting in grapes that developed fine, delicate flavours and signature, world-renowned English freshness.
Crafted according to the traditional method, aged for an extended period of time in our estate cellars, and allowed to mature for a generous period after disgorging before release, the flavours that were born on the vine build further complexity, richness, and depth. Winemaking artistry and science combine, resulting in decadent wines that are perfect to drink now, while also possessing incredible ageing-potential.
Fine beads of bubbles with crisp acidity, rich alluring aromas and sublime texture, are exquisitely matched with caviar, lobster or turbot.
A fresh start to the summer of 2013 gave way to a warm and dry midsummer, with a late burst of warmth in October. These conditions led to beautifully poised and balanced quality within the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes, which shone with bright fruit flavours, and exquisite balance of sweetness and acidity. The most outstanding grapes were handpicked from the finest sites, pressed, and vinified separately. The best parcels then expertly blended together and given extended lees ageing, imparting extra depth, weight, and a truly indulgent mouthfeel.
Quality has been preserved, and accentuated throughout every careful step of winemaking. Meticulously crafted and perfectly aged, this is the finest expression of rosé within our collection.
Elegance, structure and complexity in perfect harmony; a medley of wild strawberry and red apple meets crystalline purity and a subtle brioche character that melts into a long luxurious finish. Opulent and intense, this is the perfect pairing for the most indulgent of dishes. Enjoy Nyetimber Rosé 1086 with duck breast or veal carpaccio, or simply enjoy it on its own.
