From secret garden soirées to classic summer sports, don’t miss out on our exclusive events, exciting news and insightful reviews. Welcome to the world of Nyetimber…
We are excited to announce that our prestige cuvée, 1086 by Nyetimber 2010, was awarded both Top Sparkling Wine and Top Scoring Wine at the London Wine Fair’s Battle of the Bubbles. The blind tasting saw 13 Champagnes go head-to-head with some of the world’s finest sparkling wines, making this a particularly proud moment for Nyetimber.
We are pleased to share the recent City AM article, which raises a glass to our partnership as the official sparkling wine partner of British Cycling, joining a roster of sponsors including Lloyds and Science in Sport. Nyetimber will proudly present magnums to riders at the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women in June, followed by the men’s edition in September.
We’re delighted to be featured in SheerLuxe’s Wedding Edition, showcasing everything from our Classic Cuvee Multi-Vintage to 1086 by Nyetimber, the pinnacle of our winemaking. The feature explores how Nyetimber can help make your celebration truly unforgettable, from thoughtful pairings for every course of your wedding breakfast to in-person tastings, bespoke wedding services and those extra-special finishing touches.
English Sparkling Wine is now one of the fastest-growing success stories in the world of wine, moving from the rolling vineyards of southern England into British Airways’ First and Club World cabins on all long-haul flights. The airline is offering limited prestige cuvées from some of the industry’s finest English Sparkling Wine producers, including Nyetimber, a sign of just how far the category has come.
Nyetimber has revealed that harvest 2023 will be its biggest ever, with 350ha of vines to be harvested, up almost 8% on last year. Senior Winemaker, Brad Greatrix, said “There are always a few hurdles to jump over before we can understand the final volume and, most importantly, the quality of the grapes.”
Nyetimber Tillington Single Vineyard 2014 Sussex, England
This is beautifully concentrated and precise with aromas of toast, honey, cherry, pear and lime melding together with a sense of harmony. The palate has some innate richness, with peach, pear and bright citrus as well as more of the honey, toast and spice notes, as well as a touch of nougat, and then a long, linear finish. This is so impressive. 94/100 (JG)
The Blanc de Blancs 2014 has been named as best buy in the piece with them saying, ‘In many ways, both the original and the best. Although sparkling wine grapes were planted at this ancient estate in Sussex in 1988, it is under the ownership of Eric Heerema since 2006, together with Canadian born head winemaker Cherie Spriggs – Sparkling Winemaker of the Year in 2018, the first time anyone outside Champagne had won the award – that Nyetimber has blossomed into becoming a byword for excellence and elegance. This pure chardonnay wine is one of their best and still available at a very reasonable price: flavours of citrus and brioche and hints of camomile and elderflower. Simply gorgeous.’
Esquire Japan featured Nyetimber as their brand project for Men’s Club this month.
“A pioneer of English sparkling wine, Nyetimber produces sparkling wine from its own vineyards. In 2018, Nyetimber’s winemakers became the first sparkling winemaker outside the Champagne region to win the prestigious Sparkling Winemaker of the Year award. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to a special dinner at home. There are six varieties available in Japan. The three bottles on the left are multi-vintage, and the three bottles on the right are single vintage. The two bottles on the right are the signature prestige cuvees. The company’s vineyard is located in southern England, in the terroir that continues from the Champagne region and is said to be suitable for growing grapes for high-quality sparkling wine. Also notable is the company’s pursuit of traceability, which is rare in the industry. Each bottle is labelled by variety, blend ratio, and bottling date. The printed numbers provide access to individual information.”
Anne Krebiehl has published her review of Nyetimber’s Tillington 2014 on Falstaff, following a tasting with Brad. She gives the wine 94 points, saying, ‘After an initial whiff of reduction dissipates, there are notes of freshly cut green and red apple and a touch of sea breeze. More air reveals freshly cut red apple flesh. The palate comes in with a kind of rounded energy, with fruity élan that is reminiscent of ripe, red apple. The mousse is fine and creamy, the body is generous yet svelte, and there is a most lovely edge of pith that almost destines this for the table. It is the subtle apple-scented creaminess on the salty, dry finish that is utterly disarming. Impeccable balance.’
Welcome to Nyetimber. Before we get started, we just need to get the legal bit out of the way.
