With our Harvest just around the corner, we’re looking back on a weekend well spent at our West Sussex vineyard.
On 17 and 18 September, we welcomed guests to our second Open Day weekend of the year. Held at the Nyetimber Estate in the beautiful English countryside, we were delighted to host tours and tastings over two days, offering guests the chance to experience just a little of the Nyetimber story.
Despite some quintessentially British weather, our guests joined us for an exclusive tour of our vineyards, which were just beginning to brim with the fruit of a sunny summer. Winemaker Brad Greatrix lead small groups around our Manor vineyard, explaining why the greensand soil that runs beneath the vines provide the ideal growing conditions for our grapes. The wonderful views across the South Downs were enjoyed despite a few grey clouds, providing a beautiful backdrop for a wander through the vines.
After the tour, guests were seated in our beautiful 15th Century Medieval Barn for a tasting masterclass with our Head Winemaker Cherie Spriggs. Showcasing Nyetimber Classic Cuvee, Rosé, Blanc de Blancs and Demi-Sec wines, Cherie provided an insight into how each stage of the winemaking process ensures that every Nyetimber wine is full of flavour and finesse.
It is a real pleasure to welcome guests to our vineyards at our Nyetimber Open Days, and we’re already looking forward to hosting more visitors in 2017. Please keep an eye on our website, Twitter and Instagram feeds for news of dates for next year.
We are looking forward to sharing more news around this year’s Harvest very soon.
