Nyetimber wins gold at IWC

Nyetimber triumphed in this year’s International Wine Challenge competition by winning three prestigious medals, including two golds.

Gold medals were awarded for our 2009 Classic Cuvee in magnum and our 2009 Blanc de Blancs, which were also both awarded gold medals at the 2016 International Wine & Spirit Competition only last week. In addition to the two gold medal wins, our Rosé Multi-Vintage also won a bronze. The medals were presented to winemakers Cherie Spriggs and Brad Greatrix at the English Wine Producers trade tasting, hosted at One Great George Street and attended by the great and the good of the wine world.

Nyetimber’s head winemaker Cherie Spriggs comments: “We knew this Chardonnay  had great potential‎ even when tasting it as grape juice back in October 2009. It’s therefore  immensely satisfying to be receiving such high critical acclaim so soon after release, even though we had to wait nearly seven years.”

The IWC medal is the third gold win for the Blancs de Blancs 2009, which previously won gold at the 2015 Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championship and 2016 IWSC. Described by wine writer Matthew Jukes as the ‘star of the show’ at a recent blind-tasting organised by the WSTA in Paris, the Blanc de Blancs 2009 looks to have a very bright future ahead.
