NYETIMBER PARTNERS WITH INEOS BRITANNIA

Nyetimber has partnered with INEOS Britannia, the British race team on the 37th America’s Cup. As the official wine partner of the team, Nyetimber will provide the sparkling for the team and guests at various events leading up to and during the races.

The America’s Cup is one of the world’s most important sailing events-the oldest international competition in any sport. Team Principal, CEO, and Skipper of INEOS Britannia and CEO and Driver of the Great Britain SailGP Team, Sir Ben Ainslie is the most successful sailor in Olympic history. He won medals at five consecutive Olympics starting in 1996, including gold at the four consecutive Games(Sydney, Athens, Beijing & London) held between 2000 and 2012.

In conversation with Nyetimber, Sir Ben shared details of what’s to come and his take on celebrations, team spirit, and Nyetimber cuvees.

I am a big fan of 1086 by Nyetimber Rosé. It’s a lovely blend and very unique to Nyetimber. There is no better moment to enjoy than with family and friends, or with teammates after winning a big race!

Never give up! Britain has never won America’s Cup: the oldest international sporting trophy. Simply put, America’s Cup is ‘extremely hard’. You have to have everything in place: funding, team members, facilities, technology, human performance, hardware and a bit of luck! Only four nations have ever won in 170 years of competition, which shows you the size of the challenge. So, you have to be brave and innovative, and continuously push the limits, alongside working very hard. However, it’s hugely rewarding. Especially if we can succeed, and that will certainly be the perfect moment to enjoy a glass or two of Nyetimber!

We are currently in Palma, Mallorca sailing T6, our test boat, ahead of launching our America’s Cup racing boat next year in Barcelona. I’m looking forward to completing the T6 testing programme and watching the build of our race boat unfold: a very important period in this campaign.

One of the best things about team sports is your teammates. You spend a lot of time together over a four-year programme like America’s Cup, and it becomes like family. Being able to celebrate together is very special and definitely made even better with a glass of Nyetimber.
