Discover Nyetimber in-house experts’ recommendations for a flawless sparkling-wine wedding plan.

We love to hear why couples have chosen our wines for their wedding celebration. A recurring story is, having enjoyed a bottle on their first date, they make Nyetimber their non-negotiable sparkling wine of choice.

Sparkling wine is the most memorable drink at a wedding. As such, we recommend going beyond the toast, creating a sparkling wine journey within your celebration to charm and delight your guests. Our team of wedding specialists shares a four-step guide on how to select your wedding wine.

01

It's never too early to plan your wedding wine.

The best moment to think about the wine is as soon as you have a food theme or can organise tastings with caterers. You’ll know then how to pair it with your menu. Make sure every step of the celebration has a wine to accompany it – this includes the reception, the dinner courses, and the toast.

Work with different cuvees for a refined, elegant experience.

Changing cuvees as the evening evolves is a way of delighting and surprising your guests. If you’re going with sparkling wine throughout the event, here’s a classic pairing plan:

  • At Nyetimber, we often start our celebrations with Classic Cuvee, which works as a reception wine and pairs well with a wide variety of savoury canapés.
  • For the main course: our Rosé MV will make the best pairing for poultry, while Blanc de Blancs will pair beautifully with seafood and fish courses.
  • For the toast and to accompany your wedding cake, we recommend Nyetimber Cuvee Chérie – our demi-sec cuvee.
  • Whatever you do, don’t run out of sparkling wine.

Make sure your celebration is sparkling throughout. Make the most of the wine by prioritising serving the guests over pouring towers, for example. It’s too special a day to risk running out of wine.

03

Do the maths: how much wine per guest?

While every celebration is different – length, theme, and style-wise – here are some numbers you can use as a base for your wine planning.

  • For the drinks reception: consider ordering half a bottle per person.
  • For the toast: 1 glass per person (allowing for 6 glasses per bottle).
  • For each course: 1 glass per person.
  • It’s always better to have too much than too little. And it will never hurt to have one or two leftover cases for anniversaries, for example.
