Harriet Arkell makes a bold but we think justified claim, in a year containing the 200th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo. She goes on to outline Nyetimber’s more recent history:
Named after the beautiful medieval house at the heart of the estate, this Sussex vineyard was set up by Americans Stuart and Sandy Moss, who fell in love with the house and decided to make wine there. Now owned by Dutchman Eric Hereema, Nyetimber’s sparkling wine is said to be a favourite of the Queen, who served it at her Golden and Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
And give a few words of praise to the Nyetimber Rosé 2009:
This attractive deep pink fizz tastes summery and has a long finish. It’s just the ticket to cheer up those dark winter days.
