Our estate-owned vineyards, painstakingly chosen and planted in the highest-quality plots spanning West Sussex, Hampshire, and Kent, produce extraordinary grapes. In the very best of vintage years, our winemaking team meticulously hand-selects the most outstanding grapes of the harvest, blending together standout parcels from our finest vineyards to be exquisitely aged. 1086 is a unique reflection of a year’s most exciting wines — the best of our best.
PIONEERS OF ENGLISH EXCELLENCE
Nyetimber were the first to unlock the true potential of English winemaking: unveiling the quality that was possible when the right ingredients of pure chalk and greensand soils and prestigious grape varieties were combined with masterful winemaking.
Our owner and CEO, Eric Heerema, saw Nyetimber’s potential for excellence when he took over the estate back in 2006. A true visionary, he knew then that in order to show the world what he could see, we needed a prestige cuvée. Brilliance can’t be rushed, and patience was key, so he and the winemaking team waited for the perfect moment. In 2009, all the right elements aligned, and the first 1086 by Nyetimber was crafted from that exceptional vintage. Ever since these early years, we have remained at the vanguard of the English fine wine industry, continuously pushing boundaries.
That pioneering spirit has remained at the epicentre of our story. Winemaker Cherie Spriggs became the first person from outside the Champagne region of France to win “Sparkling Winemaker of the Year” in 2018, and the first ever female winner of this illustrious award.
WHITE
Elegance, structure, and complexity balanced in perfect harmony. The 2013 vintage is fine pale-gold in hue, with a complex and rich nose of fruit and floral characters, including notes of red apple, peach and white rose petals. These aromas develop on the palate, which is delicate yet structured with a crystalline backbone of vibrant acidity. Subtle notes of yellow pear, almond and clotted cream entwine in a long, refined finish.
ROSÉ
The pinnacle expression of rosé made from our finest parcels of the most outstanding of years; wild strawberry and red apple enveloped in Chantilly cream with hints of freshly baked brioche, and a long, lingering finish, with opulent bubbles. This is a wine of extraordinary character and grace.

1086 is a date with a profound meaning to Nyetimber. It was the year the Nyetimber estate was mentioned in the Domesday book.
