An English rosé

Nyetimber Rosé NV

A supremely elegant rosé from the pioneers of English sparkling. Bone-dry, crisp, with intense flavours of raspberries and redcurrants and just a hint of toasted brioche. For the stroke of midnight. £35, henningswine.co.uk; £44.99 (£33.72 each as part of a purchase of six mixed bottles), Majestic; £45, Waitrose

A South American stunner

Montes Sparkling Angel

Also made by the traditional méthode champenoise, this is a new bottle from top Chilean producer Montes, using grapes from the less well-known region of Zapallar. The result is an effervescent party sparkler, with gorgeous flavours of white peaches and green apples that linger. £15.50, Oddbins

A French bargain

Les Pionniers NV Champagne

This own-label champagne from the Co-op was recently named best NV champagne by consumer group Which?, beating many of the big names. It is a terrific bargain for the price – rich and biscuity but balanced with refreshing citrus notes. Excellent for canapés or that special brunch. £16.99, Co-op stores
