William Fox-Pitt and Alice Plunkett Become Nyetimber Ambassadors

Proud champions of sporting excellence, Nyetimber are thrilled to announce that William Fox-Pitt and Alice Plunkett have been named as a Nyetimber Ambassadors for 2019.

Having won three Olympic medals, William embodies the passion, pioneering spirit and strive for perfection that has defined the Nyetimber brand since 1988, when the very first Chardonnay vines were planted at the Nyetimber Estate in West Sussex. Alice, a former eventer, is now a lead presenter for ITV Racing, having previously hosted equestrian events for Channel 4 Racing, Eurosports, Radio 5 Live and Sky Sports.

This year, Nyetimber is an Official Partner of this year’s Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials, where William Fox-Pitt will be competing – his twentieth Badminton event since his career began in 1984. From 1^st– 5^thMay, the famous Nyetimber 1968 Routemaster bus will be present at The Lakeside, welcoming guests aboard to raise a glass of Nyetimber’s award-winning sparkling wine and providing the perfect toast to a fantastic five days of equestrian sport.

To celebrate this fantastic partnership, Nyetimber have produced a film entitled The Best in Their Field, an insight into what it takes to succeed in equestrian sport and winemaking. The film speaks to William Fox-Pitt as well as Nyetimber’s Viticulturalist Ben Kantsler, who is responsible for the care and upkeep of Nyetimber’s nine vineyards across West Sussex, Hampshire and Kent. Inspired by Nyetimber Head Winemaker Cherie Spriggs winning the ‘Sparkling Winemaker of the Year’ award in 2018, the film examines the parallels between what it takes to become a professional 3-day event rider, and the dedication, hard work and passion needed to harvest the very best grapes used to craft England’s finest sparkling wines.
